Games night 1st December

fluxx
A big welcome to JA who was rewarded for being so much earlier than anyone else by being treated to a quick game of Fluxx. He proved to be a natural and won in under ten turns.

PH soon turned up with 3 extra games and PM wasn’t that far behind him. With so many games to choose from and each one only having had a single vote each, JA was made to choose (being the new guy and all). He chose Star Munchkins, being the only game on offer he recognized.
Having not played this in quite some time, we fumbled our way through the first round seeing PM accumulating 10 levels far too quickly, though was thwarted briefly by a wandering monster courtesy of JA.
Round two saw a better level of play, though JA did end up getting killed in his second turn. MC went for the win, and was accosted by all manner of wandering monsters, buffs and other such things. These he deftly swatted aside with the various rebuffs and counter-measures he’d accumulated and went on to a well-earned win.
cthulhu-gloom
It was deemed that there was just enough time to fit a game of Gloom in. Turned into the longest game of Gloom we’ve ever played. The deck was very low by the game’s conclusion. JA got right into it and was downright ruthless. Inspired by this, we all followed suit. Family members were given rotten days, dispatched, reanimated, cheered right up, then put through hell again before JA played the finishing card that removed 1 family member from each family leaving MC, PH and PM with no survivors. The scores were tallied up and the result was: JA -105, PM -130, PH -140, MC -145.

Games Night 17th November

powergrid
This week saw the highest number of votes made to date. We ignored all that and played Power Grid as supplied by PH.
A new one on all of us, a little time was taken up getting a hang of the rules.
After the first round of power plant auctioning, MC vastly overspent and spent the rest of the game playing catch-up.
Despite our differing approaches, the end-game saw us finishing within 5 points of each other, with PM taking a well-deserving first place, PH and PN in joint second and MC in a strong 4th place.

Games night 3rd November

Four players this evening. Game of that night was:
pic1521633_md
as voted by MC – twice. What a good system this is.
The players:
MC picked the colour purple and played as the Shadow
PH was a green Macron
PM went for red and became the Sorcerer
PN was black and controlled the Will

Throughout the game MC cause destruction and Chaos, killing off ships using his Shadow ability. Though he could have been more ruthless as to which ships were sent to the warp.
MC took an early lead and maintained it for the majority of the game, resorting to destroying a planet to keep him in the lead.
PH repeated his previous performance and won the game, just like that.
PM kept going on about how bad he was at this, but attained 4 of the 5 points.
PN who hadn’t played this before wore a face of bemusement throughout this game.
Mutterings about this game being a bit random were dismissed as being meaningless ravings by someone winning a game twice and not really understanding how they did it.
