Games Night 1st June 2017

This week we kicked of with a lot of dice with

Despite putting in a good early lead of 1 point, PH (Green) soon fell behind leaving KV (Black) to take the win the MC (Blue) just behind.

Next up we faced off against some Xenomorphs in

Playing through the origional movie, we battled through the first round with no trouble at all. Easy.
Round two also proved to be of little consequence. Also easy.
Round three had one of those difficulty curves that was more like a solid wall. KV was the first to fall, then PH leaving MC to struggle on diligently but extreme death proved to be terminal. Even Jones that cat didn’t make it.

To finish off we tried our hands at
Agricola
The usual Agricola-based stuff happened with some results.

The results were:
KV 34
MC 26
PH 34
Particular praise to KV who had never played this one before.

Games Night 4th May 2017

Happy Star Wars day everybody!
To celebrate, we played a game that doesn’t have Star Wars in the title:

This week three shiny crewmembers of Serenity attempted to try their luck against the first three levels’ of the game.
MC tried being a leaf on the wind as Wash.
PH was the highest ranked and most misbehaving as Zoe.
PM got gut-shot as Kaylee.
Book, Inara and River were acting crew-members.
Jayne, Mal and Simon comprised the rest of the crew.
Collecting salvage was the objective of round one. Salvage was indeed collected and we high-tailed it before the large Alliance ship caused any trouble.
A health-boost module was then built into Serenity. Nice.
“I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you.”

Round two saw Kaylee getting gut-shot and Dobson getting in Wash’s face. Dobson and Patience were both successfully defeated, though at a high cost of flaws. The last-minute appearances of the Side-Missions guaranteed their failures and the forfeit of any credits earned.
Round three started badly, deteriorated rapidly. The deaths of Wash, then Kaylee and finally Zoe meant that the winner of the evening was…the goram game.

Games Night 12th January 2017

To kick off the new year, we had a crack at misbehaving with MC’s newly acquired

The players, chosen at random:
AL: Wash
EM: Jayne
MC: Simon
PM: Book
PH: Inara
We attempted the 1st three episodes.
Episode I saw the goods turn up reasonably quickly so the overpowered alliance command ship didn’t cause too much hassle before we managed to get out of there.
Our upgrade purchase increased our crew size by one.
Episode II was a little more problematic. Wash had the face-off with Dobson, but was rescued by Inara.
Patience came late to the party which already featured 2 snipers, a bandit and a Reaver ship.

Book was knocked out, but Simon was able to revive him before being eliminated himself. By the Inevitable conclusion Wash was the only player still standing, with no credits awarded.
Wash’s attempt to rob a train single handed was thwarted by Craw’s immediate appearance.
GAME OVER – Better luck next time, perhaps.

To finish off the evening, we played AL’s offering of

A bit more of a party game than the more ‘series’ games we usually go for, but nevertheless we had a lot of fun with it.
SC joined us after the first round.
Final scores:
AL: 16
EL: 16
MC: 15
PH: 16
PM: 14
SC: 12
The two words of significant transformation were ‘Librarian’ as given to MC, who drew a picture of an orang-utan surrounded by books, PM interpreted it as a lab monkey, AL drew a monkey in a cage is a laboratory, PH interpreted it as a laboratory animal leaving EL to draw a mouse in a maze.
The second, recorded in photo form for posterity was courtesy of PH, who had the deciding choice for all 12 words on his card…
This is what he picked:
1-the-starting-word
This is what he drew:…
2-the-picture
SC looked at this obscure construct and came up with this:
3-the-word
AL interpreted this as ‘high horse’ and drew a horse smoking a joint:
4-the-picture
PM saw this picture as an animal undergoing medical care so use that well-known often-used phrase:
5-the-word
MC struggled with this, so drew a goat puking up:
6-the-picture
EL managed to see this as:
7-the-final-word
